Tryouts

Start by reading the Juventus FAQ

Juventus will hold club-wide tryouts for U5-U13 on December 3rd.  Older teams usually have separate tryouts or evaluate players at practices.

But most teams want to meet potential new players any time of the year, even if they don't have immediate openings.  Being invited to practices is a great ways for players/families and teams to better assess each other before making any decisions.

If you are interested in joining a Juventus team:
  1. Check the age group chart (see left) to find your age group.
  2. Check the Teams page to see which teams match your age group and experience.
  3. Find those teams in the Team Contacts page, and email or call their listed manager or coach
  4. Depending on your experience and the team's needs, the team may...
    - ... invite you to one or more practices,
    - ... ask you to check back after the season ends, or
    - ... refer you to another team that may be a better fit
Below is information for the next tryout in December 2011.

A few Juventus teams have posted notices on the Redwood League tryout's webpage, but many teams seeking players have not.

Other Age Groups

Decide which level of team is the best fit for your level of experience, skill, & commitment.
  • Class 3 teams offer strong development opportunities without the high commitment required for Class 1.  Most league games are in San Mateo County.
  • Class 1 teams offer a higher level of play, & usually seek very committed players with club soccer experience.  Many league games are outside San Mateo County, & most Class 1 teams occasionally play in out-of-town tournaments where they stay overnight.
Identify the Juventus teams that are the appropriate age & level of competition.
  • Check this list of teams.  Note the birth date restrictions for each age group.
Contact the team manager
  • The manager will tell you about the teams, ask about your soccer experience.  If appropriate, you may be invited to attend some practices or a team tryout.
  • If the team has no openings now, ask if the manager knows other local teams that need players.
